What do honesty, connection, letting go, humility, forgiveness, higher power, self-care, mental health, and self-awareness have in common? Recovery…and Comedy!
If we can laugh about it, we can talk about it. Humor isn't just a punchline – it's a superpower in your recovery toolbox! Reinforce what you're already doing for your recovery while gaining a new skill: stand-up comedy.
Learn how to take your recovery seriously without taking yourself too seriously. Presented by Richie Satori, founder and host of Stand-Up 4 Recovery.
No experience is necessary, but feel free to bring a story from your life or any joke ideas to play with. You can even just come and be a part of the discussion. The workshop takes place from 2-4 pm, followed by an open mic from 5-7 pm, where you can take what you’ve learned and try it on stage in front of a supportive audience of your peers in recovery if you wish. Or just come enjoy the show.

Why Stand-Up 4 Recovery?
- One of the biggest fears for those in early recovery is the dread of boredom. It's a common complaint among those who have experienced setbacks, with many citing it as a trigger for their recurrence of symptoms. Especially at night, when vulnerabilities can be at their highest, there's not much to do for those in recovery.
- People in recovery love to have a good time, maybe even to a fault. Take away their favorite thing, and they’re even more determined to try and enjoy life. And that's where Stand-Up 4 Recovery comes in.
- By standing on stage, sharing their lived experience, strength, and yes, jokes, Stand-Up 4 Recovery exemplifies resilience, reduces stigma, and serves as a beacon of hope for those in and seeking recovery.
- Through the power of laughter, Stand-Up 4 Recovery fosters connection and reminds us that while recovery is serious, we don't have to take ourselves too seriously.
The monthly series and pop up shows features a rotating cast of national touring comedians in recovery from around the country. Past performers have appeared on Netflix, Conan, IYCPAA, James Cordon, Letterman, Leno, BET’s Comic View, NAMI Baltimore & Coastal Virginia, HBO, MTV, Arsenio, The International Convention of AA, and Comedy Central. Show are produced and hosted by Richie Satori (ComedyHype’s Hot 100 Comics to Watch/Hulu FX/FunnyMarco/SU4R Comedy Fest).
Stand-Up 4 Recovery was created to serve both the mental health and addiction recovery communities. Their mission is to be a beacon of hope by sharing lived experience, strength and jokes.
SU4R also works to combat the opioid epidemic and is on a mission to get Narcan (the lifesaving overdose reversal medication) into comedy venues across Georgia and train staff. Part of the proceeds from ticket sales and merchandise will go toward this initiative. SU4R is in the process of becoming a nonprofit to further its Narcan initiative, better produce shows, lead workshops, and host fund raisers and sober open-mics. Join the mailing list, purchase merch, and learn more. Follow @StandUp4Recovery across all social media. Passes are not accepted for this special event.

Stand Up 4 Recovery strives to give back to our community and shine a light on organization’s that are doing the work and fighting the good fight every day. When possible, part of proceeds go directly to such organizations. We've raised $400 for Atlanta Harm Reduction Coalition and Aids Walk Atlanta. We were able to provide $600 worth of Narcan to the H.E.R.O.E.S. Initiative who work to provide the life saving overdose reversal medication to First Responders across Georgia. So far we have been able to provide over $1000 worth of Narcan to comedy clubs across Georgia. Please consider buying a T-Shirt, Pin, Magnet, or sticker to help support our efforts. Thank you.
