Happy Recovery Month (September)! Stand Up 4 Recovery and Atlanta Comedy Theater are proud to bring you a laughter filled day of experience, strength & jokes at the 2nd Annual Stand Up 4 Recovery Comedy Fest! Stand Up 4 Recovery aims to showcase the nation's best comedians in Recovery for audiences in Recovery (& allies too)! We take recovery seriously, while trying not to take ourselves too serious. Humor & laughter are healing, & recovery is so much better when it is fun. So come celebrate national recovery month with us sunday September 17th between 5-7pm!
A huge part of Recovery is connection. Laughter is a great way to connect, which few can elicit better than our Headliner, the ridiculously funny, talented, and raw NEMA WILLIAMS. Nema is one of the most well respected veterans in the comedy game and embodies Stand Up 4 Recovery’s mission; the alchemy of turning pain into laughter. Nema's real life experiences are sure to resonate as audiences roar with laughter! He’s appeared on Comedy Central, Martin Lawrence Presents 1st Amendment, The Apollo, Comic View Allstars, and the Bad Boys of Comedy on HBO just to name a few.
Featuring is the outstanding comedienne and actress WALKER HAYS! According to Hays herself, "I'm a Baltimore born artist with a passion for anything Old Bay and Ravens, both NFL and Edgar Allan Poe. You might've seen me on FOX, Netflix or traveling the country opening for comics who are much more famous than me. And maybe you’ve heard my jokes being told by boys on Late Night TV because I have far too many jokes about testicles to keep them all to myself." Walker has had some great articles on sobriety published on Medium.
Stand Up 4 Recovery strives to give back to our community and shine a light on organization’s that are doing the work and fighting the good fight every day. This year, part of your money for tickets goes directly to the H.E.R.O.E.S. Initiative (Helping Every Responder Offer Effective Support.), who work to provide the life saving overdose reversal medication Narcan to First Responders across Georgia.
Last year with the help of our amazing audience and collaborator's, we raised $400 for Atlanta Harm Reduction Coalition and Aids Walk Atlanta.
